The Groton Business Association’s first 2017 General Meeting will be
Thursday, January 19, from 8:00-9:30am and hosted by Cardinal Honda

The GBA monthly meeting will take place Thursday, January 19 at Cardinal Honda, located at 531 Route 12 in Groton.  The free meeting will be moderated by GBA Chair Susan Bailey, and is open to the local business and civic community.  Coffee and refreshments will be served.
The featured speaker is Jonathan Reiner, Town of Groton Director of Planning & Development Services.  “Zoning – Why Should I care?  A Business Perspective”:  As the Town of Groton continues to respond to 2016’s Market Analysis and Zoning Audit (MAZA) and to update zoning regulations, businesses may wonder how much it actually affects them.  In what ways does zoning help the community adapt to a more friendly business environment and how can we be a part of their development? Hear our guest speaker, Groton’s Director of Planning and Development Services Jonathan Reiner, discuss the subject of zoning in the context of businesses and why they should be involved as part of the process.

About Jon Reiner:  Jonathan J. Reiner currently serves as the Director of the Office of Planning and Development Services for the Town of Groton, Connecticut.  Prior to coming to Groton, Jon had been working as a municipal planner for over fifteen years.  He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree with a double major in Marine Affairs and Political Science from the University of Rhode Island.  He also received a Masters of Community Planning and a Masters in Marine Affairs, both from URI.  Jon has been focusing on changing the way Groton approaches development and it doing his best to make Groton a great place to do business.  If Jon is not in the office, you might see be able to catch him enjoying our open spaces in Groton by mountain biking at Bluff Point.  Jon, his wife, and two boys live in South   Kingstown, RI.

 

About Sam Eisenbeiser:  Sam Eisenbeiser, AICP, has served as the Economic Development Specialist for the Town of Groton since April 2016 and has been a resident of Groton City since 1999.  Sam has over 17 years of community planning and economic development experience both as an analyst and a project manager.  His most recent work experience includes serving as the Economic Development Coordinator for the Town of North Stonington.  Prior to that, Sam worked as a private consultant, notably working on a development plan for a series of parcels in the heart of downtown Meriden near the train station and central green.  A graduate of the Coast Guard Academy, Sam spent six years as a junior officer including a tour on a buoy tender out of Portland, Maine.  Sam is married with two children and enjoys coaching boys’ soccer for the Groton Soccer Club.
