Lantern Light Tours
November 25, 2016 - December 23, 2016
Event Description: November 25, 26, December 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 18 and 23 / snow date: December 20 Join us for the 37th annual theatrical production of Lantern Light Tours at Mystic Seaport. This year’s performance, “The Nut-Cracker Sweets,” is set on Christmas Eve in 1876 and is inspired by “The Nutcracker.” The play unfolds through six scenes of seasonal whimsy with a horse-drawn carriage ride, a spirited circle dance, and a visit with old St. Nick…not to mention a myriad of mischievous mice! Written by local playwright and performer Anna Maria Trusky, “The Nut-Cracker Sweets” combines outrageous characters and dreamlike fantasy to delight the child in us all. Each Lantern Light Tour is a 70-minute progressive performance that covers approximately half a mile of uneven terrain (including cobblestone, wood planking, grass, gravel, and stairs) and is performed in all weather conditions. Audience members walk or stand for the majority of the performance, so please wear appropriate footwear and seasonal outerwear.
